Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Growth: Prospecting for new business, generating leads, and meeting sales goals.
  • Client Consultation: Interviewing clients to assess financial needs and recommending appropriate coverage.
  • Policy Management: Preparing applications, facilitating underwriting approval, and processing renewals.
  • Customer Service: Explaining policy nuances, answering coverage questions, and assisting with claims.
  • Administrative Duties: Maintaining accurate client records and compliance documentation. 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Licensure: Must hold a state-specific license for the lines of insurance being sold (e.g., Property & Casualty, Life & Health).
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to explain complex policy details.
  • Sales Acumen: Ability to build relationships, negotiate, and close deals.
  • Education: Typically requires a high school diploma, though a bachelor’s degree is often preferred. 

Work Environment

Agents may work as exclusive agents for one company or as independent brokers. The role involves significant client interaction, both in-person and over the phone, with many roles operating on a commission-based,, high-autonomy structure.
